Still…

We are busy {just like every other person walking the planet} and I use that as an excuse not to load pictures, “fix” them and blog.  It will be a new year’s resolution.  To blog, not keep complaining and excusing the busyness.

November

Seems to be a crazy month.  Three birthdays and Thanksgiving is a little much when there is basketball season, school and other obligations to manage but I love it.  It’s one of my favorite months.  I’ve already made my family watch three Christmas movies.  Teased them about santa coming and made sugar cookies. I’m working on the big meal for the last Thursday of the month and trying to find new ideas to make this holiday season special.  It’s a great month!

The twins turn 13!

We have always promised them a “real” friend birthday party at the age of 13. Which means that we have been talking about this for awhile and it’s become a BIG DEAL. We have a lot to live up to so on Saturday we are throwing our first coming of age party for the twins. Blog post to follow :)

A long break…

I think I’m ready to manage a blog again and keep our blogumentary going:)

We’ve enjoyed summer activities, two birthdays, the beginning of Fall, Michigan football, pumpkin carving, making caramel apples and lots of other things that did not get recorded. The older I get the more I realize how quickly time is passing and six months actually feels like two.

Hopefully, I’ll be more diligent to capture sweet moments on our blog again.

Dr. Teammate

{This picture is of us leaving the hospital after Abe had a tumor removed from his hand.}

I like to avoid doctors, hospitals, shots… who doesn’t!  I tend to react with grown-up tears and fits if we have to see a doctor or be in the hospital.  {The pic above represents more tears than I had cried before. Ever.} My craziness started when I was little.  Even in my older age, I’ve not recovered.  As a kid I was a doctor/nurses worst nightmare especially if they had to give me a shot or the ugly, dreaded IV.  I remember being 15 and giving a poor military ICU nurse a knock down drag out fight {as an asthma attack was overcoming me} because he was trying to stick an IV in my arm.   I know he still remembers me to this day and would not be happy if he actually saw me again. {My poor pastor came to pray for me one time and in the middle of his beautiful prayer for my healing I asked for a throw up bin and used it!} So, it was not shocking that after having the twins in the hospital I was willing to refrain from using a hospital again.  Trying to keep my record clean, three years later I had Grace in a birthing center {my fav.}.  Then I forgot the promise I made myself and had Naomi in a hospital.  The minute I got there I asked Nate if I could go back to Target {where I was walking around to speed up labor} and have her there.  They have a very nice bedding section, I could have made it work.  Nate the Great refused to take me.  Poor Abe was born at home {not my fav.}.  He has a weird mom, who has crazy fears and a dose of determination.

The actual point of this post: I love our family practice doctor that we have now.  Granted we don’t see him very often but when we do; he listens, assumes the best of me as a mom and willingly allows my input in whatever treatment he may want to give.  Medical doctors should always be partners in our care, not dictators.  I went through a couple of doctors before I found this guy and I hope he never quits practicing, never gets old… never dies.  That’s how your guy/gal should be.  If you would not nickname them Dr. Teammate, then maybe call them Dr. Fired and find someone else.  I think it’s worth it.

I don’t sell it but I sure love it.

I love essential oils.  I love the way they smell.  I think the little bottles are cool.  Anything that might help you heal naturally without chemicals seems like a great thing to me.  Yet, I still love the fast acting, “my child is back to being themselves” power of Ibuprofen too. I want the best of both worlds in a very un-Miley way.

I did not necessarily purchase essential oils exclusively to be used medicinally but have really enjoyed learning, applying and healing our family with them. DoTERRA oils have become favorites and have lived up to anything we’ve thrown at them so far.   Hurting muscles, colds, a strain of strep during Christmas, flu-like symptoms, my asthma and lots more.

I don’t sell the products but do know great people who do!  I can definitely pass their names along.

The Governor’s Mansion

The meeting place.  There were eight adults and 15 kids.  Almost a two to one ratio so we were doing pretty good.  The guy with the sunglasses is one of the best highway patrolman in Utah and has been on the Governor’s security team since Huntsman.  He and his family also happen to be part of our date group.  We’ve been friends since we moved to Utah.  He took us on a private tour of the Governor’s Mansion and the State Capitol building.  We are lucky ducks to know such people.

The entrance to the mansion and the juveniles about to swarm the castle.

I can just see it, Governor Fox, the First Lady and all their offspring. We’d have the home in disarray in a matter of minutes.

Then we headed toward the State Capitol and found this when we got there.

Lots of jokes made.  Stay tuned to see more.

{Special thanks to The Blanchard’s for most of the pics!}
